MCV has just published two new articles for the upcoming Sims 3.
The first article, The Sims 3 targets ‘real’ gamers discusses on how The Sims 3 will branch away from it’s simulation past and adds in more “gamer-ness” with more challenges and depth for gamers. Is this such a smart move to take away the core audience of the game? I know quite a few people who play the Sims on the fact that it isn’t a hardcore game and that they enjoy the simplicity of what the game has to offer. If this is taken away, would those same folks move up the ladder with the next revision or go on to find a substitute?
The second article is called Franchise Focus. It basically consists of most of the rest of the previews that were released, but it ties in with the first article above. With Will Wright having stepped back from The Sims to concentrate on Spore, it’s clear that Rod Humble’s MMO past has encouraged him to move The Sims away from its simulation background towards a gameplay experience which will appeal more to existing gamers – while The Sims 3’s increased sophistication and depth will excite current fans who would not otherwise characterise themselves as gamers. The Sims is continuing its inexorable march towards becoming the games industry’s biggest ever franchise.
Thanks to SimPrograms for this info.

The new details revolve around the new Politics career:
"To advance in this career, a scenario is about raising campainfunds. So this means you need to organize a fundraising party and ask money from the guests. The amount of money will decide if you succeed or not. Succes in a scenario can mean a promotion, better jobperformance or a raise.
In this career, you can eventually become mayor and if you perform lousy, angry citizens may parade in front of city hall, shouting and carrying banners."

Well, after weeks of speculation and anticipation the official Sims 3 website is now open. There is a lot of info that was already seen in various magazines but there is also some new info too. The website is currently flooded with the amount of people trying to view it. This was inevitable but if you can't view the site please wait a couple of hours and try again later. As an alternative you can try refreshing the page over and over. A few simmers on the bbs have said that works.
There are also a few new screenshots and by the looks of it, there is a build mode which should put a lot of simmers at ease. It's worth a look for sure and keep an eye on it as more info arrives.

The very first Sims 3 picture has been shown on the front cover of 1up.com who have an article about a 12 page in-depth look at the game in an upcoming edition on "Games For Windows" magazine. The article quotes,
"The town and park you see on the cover image exist in the same seamless space as your Sims' household, and what you do outside your home now matters as much as what you do within.
The game also sees a major shift in how Sims' motives are handled: Individual meters indicating bladder and sleep-deprivation levels are replaced by a new system of discrete moods so they can focus more on, well, going out on the brand new town."
